A Strategic Priority

In 2007, Dr. Herlinda Glasscock, then-President of North Lake College, signed the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. A high-visibility effort to address global warming, the Presidents’ Climate Commitment vows to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions and to accelerate the efforts of higher education to equip society to re-stabilize the earth’s climate.

At North Lake College (NLC) sustainability is a strategic priority. So much so that the college has won national awards for green building practices and waste minimization on campus. North Lake even created a green diploma!

Sustainability is not just about winning awards or innovating. It’s a lifelong commitment to our planet that requires time, energy and, most of all, passion. North Lake College channels all of its resources—students, community partnerships, even landscaping—to cultivate higher environmental standards.
