In December 2012 North Lake College students got a brand new ride: the DART rail. Short for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, DART offers four lines with 61 rail stations across DFW. Their newest stop is at North Lake’s front door.

The new DART Orange Line connects central Dallas to the community of Greater Irving/Las Colinas. Student riders save gas money (and the planet) by riding to Central Campus. Bus routes 501, 401 and 504 also serve North Lake.

DART currently offers discount passes to NLC students taking three semester credit hours or 48 continuing education contact hours. Ed DesPlas, executive vice chancellor for business affairs at Dallas County Community College District, is working to extend this discount into the 2013-2014 academic year. “We are pleased to offer these discounted passes to our students, who always must balance budgets, classes, tuition, jobs and other demands,” he explains.

DART bus and rail schedules are available at the Central Campus welcome desk.
